Patrick Collison is CEO of Stripe, a technology company that builds financial infrastructure for the internet. Patrick and his brother John started Stripe in 2010. Today, millions of businesses, from startups to global enterprises, use Stripe to accept payments and manage complex transactions online.

Patrick is also cofounder of the Arc Institute, a biomedical research facility that is pioneering a new model for basic research.

Sam Hawgood is the 10th chancellor of UCSF and the Arthur and Toni Rembe Rock Distinguished Professor. He oversees the university’s nationally ranked schools of medicine, nursing, dentistry, and pharmacy, its graduate division, the UCSF Dental Center, and UCSF Health. 

An internationally recognized neonatology researcher, Hawgood trained in pediatrics and neonatology in Australia and previously served as dean of the UCSF School of Medicine.
 

Rich Lyons is the 12th chancellor of UC Berkeley. The first undergraduate alum to serve as chancellor, he began his tenure in July. Prior to that, he served as dean of Berkeley’s Haas School of Business, then, as an associate vice chancellor, led the development and expansion of innovation and entrepreneurship campuswide.

Asked at a meeting among colleagues what his “six-word memoir is,” Lyons responded with “long-term love affair with ideas, learning.”
