In queer spaces, unwanted touching is too often waved off as something that’s part of the culture rather than a violation of it.
That idea came under fresh scrutiny this fall after The San Francisco Standard reported allegations from three men that District 8 supervisor candidate Manny Yekutiel groped them at parties. Yekutiel, who has denied the allegations, ended his campaign while apologizing for “any boundaries” he crossed.
In partnership with the SF LGBT Center, The San Francisco Standard presents a live conversation with advocates and nightlife leaders about consent, accountability, and what it will take to change how queer communities respond to sexual assault. We’ll also hear from reporter Joe Fitzgerald Rodriguez, who has led The Standard’s reporting on the Yekutiel story.
